P hotographic commentary: The Wrasse above is a male in full mating colours. He needs plenty of light to show off the bright patterns. Try to get him The Blue ‘Groper’ on the previous page requires twin strobes. Also always try to shoot slightly upwards to capture the background light. Both photos below were taken after moving both strobes so that they popint toward the subject.. Turn the housing around at arms length and line both strobes with your eyeballs so that they overlap. I al ways do this at the start of every dive.

I even took a photo in exactly the same spot of the same bright red Giant Frogfish. The water was a filthy dark green colour. He made the murky green water a feature by shooting vertically and getting skylight behind it to create a magical emerald effect. Now, of course, I try to look for these opportunities! However, being able to see the
