DIVE LOG JUNE 2025 issue 412
The Australasian Diving Safety Foundation (ADSF) The ADSF is a registered Australian Health Promotion Charity which was formed to provide much needed funding for research into diving illness and injury prevention and to promote diving safety in various forms. To do this, the ADSF has several grant schemes. One is available to researchers who undertake formal research into decompression illness prevention or management, or some other eligible diving safety-related area. Another is aimed at dive operators, clubs, other diving professionals and possibly general divers who are keen to promote diving safety in a variety of possible ways. This could be through a targeted safety promotion to their customers or club members, diving safety seminars, additional safety-related training and by other means. Over the past 6 years since it was formed, we have committed more than $920,000 in various grants, including: Subsiding 58 AEDs for dive operators or clubs (> $65,000) Subsidising 40 oxygen units for dive operators or clubs (> $25,000) Subsidising the dive medical training course fees for 49 doctors (> $200,000) Distributing thousands dive safety books, flowcharts and stickers to dive operators, clubs, and interested divers Come up with an idea, run it past us and we will assess whether we will allocate funding. For full details of the schemes, visit our website at www. adsf.org.au . Help us to help you make diving safer and even more enjoyable for all of us. Regards, Dr John Lippmann, Chairman and CEO and the Board of ADSF
