DIVE LOG DECEMBER 25 ISSUE 415
Bullet Head Parrotfish at night
Most of my night dives in Kimbe and near Walindi have been from MV Febrina. You can also organise a night dive from the resort. Night diving here is awesome. I can recall most clearly the feeding antics of a Broadclub Cuttle. I watch as it approached a sleepy Butterflyfish. It simply grabbed it and stored it inside its mantle like a pouch. Then it immediately went for a second one. Then, it went hunting for more! I t was able to catch its dinner with ridiculous
ease with exactly the same level of difficulty as a child taking chocolates from the lolly aisle and loading up the trolley when mum is not watching. Lots of Lobsters and crustaceans come out to feed at night. I always delight in the opportunity to photograph the stunning Saron shrimps. These shrimps are continuously on the move. As soon as your torchlight hits them they retreat to the safety of the coral caves or crevices. You really need a good dive guide to help to
Impossible circus colours of the Saron Shrimp are electrifying
