DIVE LOG AUSTRALASIA ISSUE 413 AUGUST 25

Harlequin Sweetlip juvenile from Lissenung, Plectrorhinchus chaetodonoides.

Adults like to school near coral reefs where there are strong currents and drop offs; It is most rewarding to encounter large schools of these placid, brightly coloured fish hovering in tight formation. I have had some very special encounters with Sweetlip that are totally unafraid, curious and seemingly wanting to ‘socialise’.

Gold spotted Sweetlips. Plectrorhinchus flavomaculatus. The grey body is covered with gold spots and stripes on the gill cover.
