IMAGINATION ISLAND AT GIZO

IMAGINATION ISLAND Gizo is west of Honiara about 1.5 hours flight from the Capital. We stayed at Imagination Island. In many places in the Solomons transport is by water. Imagination Island is only ten minutes from Gizo airport and about fifteen minutes from Gizo town. It is not really an island, more a rocky outcrop covered in rainforest and home to many thousands of sea birds. It would easily fit into a soccer pitch and is only a couple of metres above sea level. Like many resorts in the Solomons, it features a long jetty with a large restaurant / bar area built over the water. Your water taxi drops you off at the restaurant. The

longest walk to your accommodation is about one hundred metres through the rainforest canopy and at times across mini sand beaches. It is a magical place! Imagination island is a favorite resort of mine. The ambience here is the ideal South Sea Island holiday with a totally private hut built on stilts over the tidal water. You share the space with thousands of sea birds. Hundreds of Noddy Terns and other sea birds share your private jetty and sleep in the nearby trees. It is the perfect back to nature location with a strong hint of romance, adventure and tranquillity. I was totally mesmerised by the location and it appealed to my Robinson Crusoe Island ideal of the perfect
