Eyes Are Windows Into The Soul

A n often overlooked genre of marinelife image capture are the very things that are the most engaging features of a subject.

The Eyes This applies to wildlife, birdlife and even humans. Normally when we include a diver with our marinelife subjects we discourage the divers eye contact with the photographer as it creates a serious distraction from the key subject. However with this genre, the creatures eyes are the only subject. Image by Kevin Deacon.

Genre : Macro with Strobe. Photography Data : Nikon D200, Nikkor 60MM lens, Seacam Housing with Seacam Strobes. ISO 100, 1/125 Second & F22. Photo Hints : The eyes of Marinelife subjects vary tremendously but many are spectacular and exhibit a great variety of colour and texture. It is also really ideal if your image not only engages the viewer ‘ Eye To Eye ’ but also embraces their attention as they explore the picture working out the mystery of exactly what it is they are looking at.

Location : Tulamben, Bali, Indonesia.
