DIVE LOG DECEMBER 25 ISSUE 415
HERON ISLAND DIVE FESTIVAL 20 to 27 June 2026 Where is the best diving in the South Pacific? What is your favorite dive? These sort of questions are not easy to answer. However, I can tell you that the diving at Heron Island is great. It stands up very well to the best of the best for several reasons. it has loads of big stuff. Turtles, Rays, sharks big fish and schools of reef fish. It has a superb variety of reef fish such as Butterflyfish, Angelfish, all sorts of Damsels and a basket of plenty, a cornucopia, if you like of nudies and crabs. It has been a fully protected Green Zone marine National Park for many years. In short, the diving here is fantastic. I have done 40 dive trips O/S so I can make the judgement based on experience. Dive facilities are excellent, the dive boats are large, modern well equipped and managed by highly trained dive staff. Put simply, Heron Island has got it all. and ... June is the very start of Manta Ray season as well as Humpback whale season. The management at Heron Island has put together a package consisting of : boat transfers from Gladstone, full board including three meals a day.
