Most Most are locally trained, from the surrounding islands. Later on, they would be sufficiently skilled to travel and see the wider world. This way hundreds of wages find their way into the local economy and their families. The training involves providing guests with the absolute best level service. Put simply, I have never had such a high level of personal service anywhere. A vital part of the training is that the service is done properly with sincerity. I found this to be true. The staff are genuinely so friendly and gracious. I fumble my way around a few hundred Indonesian words. The local staff are impressed that guests attempt to converse in Indonesian even if it just to say please and thank you. When you get it wrong, they are very polite and respectful. However, you can order anything that you want, even if it is not on the menu and they will deliver it. They have superb coffee and wonderful ice cream plus a steady supply of cakes and desserts and every meal. So, a little more about being spoilt on Wakatobi. If you visit a lesser resort with problems such as poor dive sites or not so good service, you will be most miffed. You have experienced better. I will admit that I did have a tear in my eye when I departed from the island.
