420 Dive Log Australasia OCTOBER 2026

Mating Octopusses

Running Marine Biology courses I began to develop my advanced Marine Biology course for Scuba Divers course more than twenty eight years ago.The entire course was based on many thousands of hours of research to create theory lectures. These were supplemented by my slide shows of marine specimens tailored to my local dive sites. This was an invaluable teaching aid in that I was able to show what the animals looked like in the lecture. The students loved it.

The joke is on us! Warning Humourous section. As a general rule, everyone hates underwater photographers, mostly in a good humoured and friendly way. have a chuckle at a few good humoured comments following. We are the ones vilified for all destruction of the reef, all delays on the dive boat. We are told that each and every stuff up that happens on a dive results directly from the underwater paparazzi even if they were asleep at the time. I have been given the blame

Sydney’s Mosaic Sea Star is surely one of the most beautiful of all the sea stars. This photo is from Botany Bay
