T he restaurant provides the best provide fine dining for all guests. When you chat with the chefs, you discover that they have been trained in all sorts of cuisine. Some are Patisserie chefs, others create European cooking, Indonesian cuisine and so on. Every meal has an abundance of culinary choices. Numerous non-diving activities are available to entertain and enrich, from kitesurfing to local cookery classes, and personalisation is their forté. The resort prides itself on providing itineraries and packages to make the guest’s stay with us truly memorable. The Owner’s son Max, recently won an Olympic medal in )Kite foiling, (windsurfing with speed, representing Singapore. His training area is right near the resort. Lorenz and Valentin have pushed the boundaries of what a resort should be like. Every aspect of the resort is designed to go beyond and above expected standards. Being Swiss, they have best quality Ice Creams in so many flavours. They sourced the best coffee in Indonesia, blending their own ideal coffee. The resort operated on full board style where dining is part of the package. However, you can order a dish which is not on the menu. Breakfast has chefs on
hand to produce cooked breakies in European and Asian style according to your wishes. Wakatobi is a conservation-based business model. The diving area is one of the world’s largest .privately funded marine protection areas. To achieve this end they founded the Wakatobi Collaborative Reef Conservation Program. Monies from the guests are used to pay fishers to protect the reefs and to allow reefs to maintain a pristine and safe environment. You notice this on your first dive. The marine life is excellent and abundant. The House Reef is totally protected. As such, it is where you are likely to see a greater number of big fish. The wall-to-wall diving at Wakatobi is so rich and varied. There are numerous dives where the dominant corals differ completely and so make each dive unique. There are many ecosystems to be explored here, each with differing marine treasures for you to discover. It has been two years since my fortnight on Wakatobi and I often dream of returning for another opportunity to be spoilt.
