Photo comments: Top Left: Close up of the bright mauve Crown of Thorns Sea Star from Thailand with one of the guests on board The Phinisi in the Andaman Sea off Phuket. I often take photos of guests as a favour. Top Right: This shot from PNG in 2013 could be improved in several ways. Model could be closer. More light onto sponge. More light on Golden Feather star and so on. Self analysis is a great learning tool post taking the photo. Bottom: The 16 to 35 mm Wide Angle zoom lens is ideal for focussed marine life portraits. I tried to capture the stunning Imperial Angel fish in a dark cave in front of the bright reef wall. To spread the light, I angled the flashes inwards, used my focus light help the camera computer resolve the contrast in the dark shadows. Electronic cameras will not fire if the camera can’t resolve subjects because of poor contrasting light under this rock wall..
