We descend on the sheltered side, cruise to the head where the big fish gather, then drift back along the current side before finishing the dive shallow, where macro life thrives. Thanks to warm 30°C waters and exceptional visibility, every dive is an extended encounter with nature’s finest. World War II Wrecks: The Blackjack and Pist-off Tufi is home to two incredible wreck dives, though “local” is a relative term. One, in particular, requires a full-day excursion to complete just one dive before returning to the resort before nightfall. This trip must be pre booked and comes with a hefty price tag due to the significant fuel required for the journey.
Mullaway and Veales: Hammerhead Territory
Two of my most memorable dive sites are Mullaway and Veales Reefs - sites that are regularly visited by sharks, in particular, hammerheads. These reef structures sit at the perfect intersection of depth, current, and open ocean, drawing in large pelagic life.
