The meals were a great example of what he meant. They are all special, definitely restaurant quality and plentiful. I asked him about the chefs and he said that they had specially trianed Indonesian chefs, internationally trained chefs for western meals, patisserie chefs and more. Lorenz researched all of the Indonesian coffee he could find and created his own blend of coffee that he judged to be excellent. It is really good coffee. They have highly trained wait staff who are clearly excellent staff managers. They train the local staff to international standards and you can see it in the level of service. All of the staff are genuine and friendly. They always greet you by name and have a friendly chat. It is interesting to talk to the staffYou often get a surprise at their worldly experience and such as, “I worked on luxury cruise “ships in the Caribbean for seven years or “I was trained at a famous Hotel chain in Bali. “The management prides itself on the fact that many of the chefs and managers have been at Wakatobi for many years. The same applies to the dive guides. All of them have enormous experience. Many have worked on famous dive charter boats for years. Once again, the same theme of loyalty to Wakatobi is repeated. Once the staff arrive at Wakatobi, they stay there for many years.
